The Valley Singles Club is a great way to meet people and have fun!
Valley Singles Club was founded by Debbie Dehner of Fountain Hills, AZ in January of 2000 as a non-profit organization. The club has successfully created many long lasting relationships over the last nine years and plans to continue for the next eighty or so years, if not longer!
We are a group of single people from all over the valley who get together for a little fun. We plan a variety of activities every weekend. These activities include happy hours, game nights, clubbing/dancing, house parties, dinners, movies, seminars, hiking, camping, travel, and many more. We have travel discount opportunities including discount cruises, hotels, cars, dream trips and weekend getaways at a variety of different resorts. To ensure that our members meet a variety of people, we network and plan group events with other singles clubs in the valley on the first Friday of every month.
Our club slogan is “Don’t Do It Alone”
Our website is valleysinglesclub.org
How Do I Join?
It’s simple -- all you have to do is fill out the application and return it with your annual membership fee of $25.00. You can find the application on our website listed above or you can call Debbie Dehner for a copy.
Memberships are open to all the singles in the valley. If you are not certain this club is for you, come be our guest at an event of your choice. We will not turn away any unexpected visitors. If you are looking for us at an event, we make it easy -- all you have to do is LOOK FOR THE SMILEY FACE.
In the unfortunate event that you will not be able to attend, please be courteous and let us know so that there are no hold-ups. The annual membership fee pays for administrative expenses such as post office box rental, administrative supplies, web site maintenance, and light refreshments at various events.
House Parties
Our house parties are potlucks. If you would like to participate in the house parties, please sign up to let the host know what you would like to bring. Please provide enough to serve 6 or more people. The parties are BYOB. As many of you might remember, we used to charge a fee to attend the house parties. But due to the economic situation, we would like to only enforce the $7.00 fee for those who do not bring a dish, and that money will go into the checking account so that it can be invested into the extras for the parties.
VALLEY SINGLES CLUB MARCH EVENTS
(Tempe)(Fri)(6PM) March 5, HAPPY HOUR @ Graham Central Station, 7850 S. Priest Dr., near the SW corner of Elliot Rd. & Priest Dr. (next to the LA Fitness center). Country, Rock & Roll, Karaoke, disco/dancing. Discount & complimentary hors d’oeuvres, smoke free environment. Look for all the different color balloons in the country section by the DJ. That’s where I will be. After 7PM a $5.00 admission fee applies. Come and kick up your heels with me. Look for the smiley face. Join Debbie to celebrate her birthday, also any other birthdays in March.
RSVP: Debbie @ (480) 837-9449
(Tempe)(Sat)(10:30AM) March 13, ARIZONA ALOHA FESTIVAL @ Tempe Beach Park, 80 W. Rio Salado Pkwy. Whatever your interest, the Festival's performers will enchant you with rhythm, music, song and dance from the rich cultures of the South Pacific Islands. It is a free event. Hawaii and Polynesia have many unique crafts and products. Traditional crafts include fresh flower leis, baskets and hats made from palm fronds, carved bone necklaces and tapa cloth. But there are also tropical twists on familiar items such as rubber stamps, island wood products, and Hawaiian Heritage Jewelry. Then there are the items familiar to an island lifestyle: colorful fabrics, surfer shorts, Hawaiian coffees, Hawaiian music, and unique snacks. Those from the islands shop for familiar products from home. Those who have visited the islands shop for things they fell in love with and souvenirs they didn't have suitcase-room for! Those who love unique products and gifts find treasures not found anywhere else in Phoenix or Arizona. Try Light Rail! (480) 350-2775. Park your car at one of the park & ride stations and get off one short block away from the Festival! It’s easy, with no parking or traffic hassles! Come join the fun!
RSVP: Debbie (480) 837-9449

Sign up for the food groups: vegetable/salad, hot dish, or desert. Dish must feed at least 6 people. We will play the Wii game, have a campfire and roast some marshmallows. Come socialize with other members and join the fun! Look for the COW mailbox. There will be a bake sale that day. If you want to bake some goodies, bring them by. A reminder will be sent out later.

PLANNING NEWSLETTER
Please call Debbie or email her with ideas and information as to which events you would like to sponsor. This is for preliminary planning of club activities. Please have events written up and ready to give me or email me with all the information (place, address, prices, phone number, directions, and discounts). If we don’t get it on time, it will not get in the newsletter. Deadline for newsletters is the last Friday of every month. Or come to a meeting to help plan. RSVP: Debbie (480) 837-9449.
We encourage our members to get involved. If you are interested in hosting an event, please contact Debbie Dehner to set up the details. Carpools are available to and from all events. We ask that carpoolers donate to the driver for gas. For information about events, directions, and RSVP’s, please contact the core member that is hosting the event. Phone numbers are listed below.
If you have any comments to improve the club, please let me know. Better yet, come and join us to discuss them with everyone.
I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for all your support given to me over the past ten years. For those people who sponsored activities, an even bigger bouquet of appreciation! Without you, there would be no club today. Forming new relationships and making new friends who were but strangers not so long ago, proves Will Rogers right again when he said, “a stranger is just a friend I haven't met”. And most of all, thanks to you our members for all the treasures you really are!
EVENT SPONSORS
Sponsors, please be aware that your event and your phone number will be published in the Times Newspaper, Let's Go Newspaper, Singles Scene Web Site, Valley Singles Club Web Site, Love in Life Newspaper, and FH Community Guide. This is for RSVP purposes only! We need a head count in order to prepare for our events and make them more enjoyable for everyone.
Monthly print editions for the Let's Go Newspaper are mailed through the post office to subscribers in Fountain Hills, Rio Verde, Tonto Verde, Fort McDowell, and certain areas of Northeast Scottsdale. Extra copies can be picked up at the following locations: AJ's in Scottsdale (Via Linda), AM/PM (Shea/FLW), Starbucks Coffee (Mtn. View/Via Linda), Circle K, Chamber of Commerce, FH Convenience Express, The FH Times, Ha Ha China Restaurant, Peaks Fitness, Texaco Gas Station, and Pony Express, just to name a few.

"Dr. D" on Singles
This month’s article is:
TEN RELATIONSHIP STRESSORS
Positive reinforcement is rewarding what behaviors you cherish from the other person. Cultivate your relationship with compliments, flattery, admiration, and fairness, especially those behaviors and words that increase appreciation of one another. Intermittent reinforcement is when the person is rewarded as often as not; for example, randomly every 3rd or 4th time. Try these methods of reinforcement in your relationships with everyone and see how well they work!
“Dr. D” (aka: Lynda Durfy) has been a psychologist/counselor for 24 years. She currently is retired and invites all members to send questions, concerns, and comments to her email at roseylynda@yahoo.com. If you would like it published in the newsletter, please give your permission to do so at that time.
